Generic POTA Card using FST1 and FST2 in QSOCardCreator
I often go to different POTA sites, and although I have a different card for each Rhode Island site, that is not the case for out of state POTA. It was feasible to create a card for each RI park as there are only 61 of them. When I visit my neighboring state of Massachusetts, which has 414 POTA sites, this is no longer feasible. The Answer? Create a single Generic POTA card and leave the address information and park information off the card and use FST1 and FST2 settings in the ICF file instead. I then take these steps:
- Go to a new park.
- Upon returning home, copy the last park icf you used.
- Rename the copy to the new park name.
- Open and edit in Notepad.
- Leave the first line alone, as you will just use the same image.
- Go down and edit FST1 and FST2 as appropriate.
- Done.
This allows to you put the gridsquare for the park, and basic info on the site. For example: FST2:Green River Bluffs Overlook ~ KFF-0050 Mammoth Cave National Park, KY ~ ITU:8 ~ CQ:4 ~ Grid: EM67we
